Catching big fish in Buengsamrung and passing on the following fishing/hunting stories. If you catch a beautiful fish, kiss it and set it free, the story goes that it will remember and return to you.

Max made bait, casted and battled for up to 30min on his own only needing help to pull the fish out, there is no doubt that this boy loves fishing  Based on the glowing eyes, the laughing, great excitement, tireless hard work of casting, battling with and pulling out giant catfish weighing between 10-27kg for 10hrs straight in the 36degree heat I diagnosed a serious case of hunting fever.

The fishing shop at Buengsamrung is great! What we need to do now is get ourselves some good rods, learn how to maneuver our canoe and go river, or lake fishing. He is now talking about snakeheads and Siamese carp. My boy is a hunter, i have passed on the torch - happy days.

A good friend gave this book to me some years ago .....

This classic memoir captures the relationship between a man and his grandson as they fish and hunt the lakes and woods of North Carolina. All the while the Old Man acts as teacher and guide, passing on his wisdom and life experiences to the boy.

Author, Robert Ruark grew up in North Carolina. His grandfather was his mentor, his companion in the field, his teacher at streamside and lake. Young Ruark thought he was learning to fish and hunt -- really he was learning about life. Decades later, long after the old man was gone, Ruark realized how many of the lessons still sustained him. He paid his debt in this one-of-a-kind memoir

I am trying my very best to step into my old man's footsteps. It is not easy, as i am not up to it physically, but my heart is urging me on to open this world to him. And when i saw him battle fish, putting his back into it, making bait, casting, battling again, kissing his favorites, the look in his eyes and the compassion when he put them back into the water, i was most pleased - proud even. I am raising a man :]

Old Man and the Boy by Robert Ruark to me its not about a book its about life, learning and living life.
I believed not many kids this day have great practical experiences and opportunities to learn about life in the field not in the stacks of text books class works and homeworks.
" I am raising a man" Great words:2TU:
