TEAM PARTICIPATION & TEAM ELIMINATION ROUNDS (TER)

Scores from the 3 highest scoring archers from the same club within a category will be computed and the teams ranked in their respective categories. The top 8 teams (1/4 elimination) will qualify for the TER. TER will be conducted based on four ends of 6 arrows per end per team. Each end is 2 minutes. Team with the highest cumulative score after four ends win, and will proceed to the next round. All registered teams will need to pay a team registration fee of $12 per team to be eligible for the TER. This is for the Trophy Fund. INDIVIDUAL ELIMINATION ROUNDS (IER)The top 16 archers (1/8 elimination) competing in the 70m, 50m, FITA 900, Junior, Cadet and Novice class (recurve and compound), will qualify for the IER and it will be conducted in both male and female categories. For recurve, the SET POINT system will be used. 2 points for a set won, 1 point for a set tied, and 0 points for a set lost. Tie break is a point and is used after five sets, whereby there are no clear 6 point winners. For compound, IER will be conducted based on 5 ends of 3 arrows per end. The winner will be determined by the highest cumulative score. If there is a tie in cumulative score after 5 ends, a tie breaker will be used to determine the winner whereby each archer will shoot one arrow. The archer, whose arrow shot, is nearest to the center of the target, wins.(Gold medal matches may be conducted using the alternate shooting format and will be confirmed and advised during the Captain’s Briefing)

Whilst every effort will be taken to make the event as safe as possible, archery is a sport and with it will come the inherent risks involved.
SPECIAL ADAPTATIONS
1. Under the World Archery rules, an archer is only allowed to take part in one class per competition. However, to encourage participation and to provide more opportunities for the local archers to challenge themselves in the various distances, we are allowing archers to take part in more than one distance provided the appropriate fees are paid and their events do not clash. The onus is on the archer to avail himself or herself at the appropriate time and place for their challenge. The organizers reserve the right to offer an available slot firstly to an archer participating in one event only. Archers wishing to participate in more than one event will have lower priority in the allocation of slots (second event onwards).2. The “Novice” Class does not officially appear in World Archery definition of class and is a nomenclature used for local competitions only. The organizers have included this class so as to encourage new archers to come forward and shoot in an exciting competitive environment. In this manner they will then have the experience and confidence to participate in more future events. In this category instructions and more ‘hand holding’ will be available during the shoot to enable the archers to enjoy the competition. Novice is defined by the organizers as those who started shooting recently in year 2012/2013 and has not taken part in any competitions. Both conditions are being taken as a single requirement.3. Similarly for the Bowman and Cub class, there is no one international fixed age group or proper distances, only recommendations. It is often left to the local organizers to set their own parameters. Only the 70m, 50m and FITA 900 are approved World Archery rounds. There is no such approved distance as an Archer Round, etc. We do these rounds because there is a large group of archers transiting from the beginner distance to the intermediate distance. Usually this distance is covered in the Standard Bow Category but the equipment restriction deters many from participating. It is therefore hoped that this event will be the forefront of many such events in which these nomenclatures (names) are used.4. For age calculation, World Archery takes the year of competition and year of birth as the two criteria. Subtracting will give the age year. For example, 2013 minus 1963 gives 50 and this will be the ‘age’ for consideration. So, for the purpose of this competition, we will use the birth year and not take into consideration the birth date. As proof of age, all archers must have on them proper identification attesting to their birth. We will do random checks and anyone found flouting the age group ruling will be disqualified and banned from all future Flaming Arrows events. “Forget to bring” will not be accepted as a reason. No proof of age at point of inspection equates to instant disqualification WITH NO REFUNDS BEING MADE.5. It is our ardent wish that all future competitions will be organized as close to those organized internationally so that all archers in Singapore will develop learning the correct rules and shooting competitively in environments that they will encounter internationally. If we have been amiss in any areas please accept our apologies and do give us your feedback so that we can amend and improve on our competitions. Our next event will be an indoor shoot in the later part of the year. You will want to sign up early for that shoot as it is awesome and most of our great sponsored prizes are being reserved for this end of school year celebration shoot. That is a big clue to the event date.

If need be so as to accommodate as many archers as possible, we may change the timings accordingly. However, as much as possible we will try to stick to this schedule.

The above timings for the 4 days will serve as a guide and will be changed accordingly with the flow of the competition. Hopefully, we will be faster than the time stated above and if so we will move the time forward if need be. Archers and Coaches please take careful note of this and be there at least a good hour before the scheduled event/timing.Based on the final entries after the dateline, we will send out the final schedule. If need be so as to accommodate as many archers as possible, we may change the timings accordingly. However, as much as possible we will try to stick to this schedule.
